Debate 3

Now I know what this mean "3 strikes and you're out"!!!

It took me some time to make up my mind to wake-up in the middle of the night, (Las Vegas is 9 hours behind Paris time) or just forget the last episode of "THE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE". But I said it isn't like Dallas because there are only 3 episodes (thank goodness) so up at 3 in the morning. Episode 1 they shook hands at the begin and end of the episode, episode 2 we only got a handshake at the end and Episode 3 (I wonder if I shouldn't call them rounds) no handshakes "so what it's all finished", Chris Wallace had his hands full but I think he came thru well considering the atmosphere and he even manage to keep the peace.  I gave up going back to bed because I wanted to hear what the critics had to say. Two things bothered me, first their where all these people outside but in perfect view of the cameraman that enjoyed presenting them and their panels with slogans like "Seek Jesus", "Seek Jesus all alone" and "Don't give up talk to Jesus". I was wondering if it was there way of saying don't waste your time with these guys" don’t vote.
The second thing (I saw the first two debates and stayed for the commentaries of the CNN team) I had the feeling that some in there analyst were also very aggressive.

For Wednesday’s third and (thank goodness) last presidential debate, it was Fox News anchor Chris Wallace’s turn as  moderator.

Before the start of the questions the opponent's stepped up and shook hands with the referee (correction moderator), the opponents refused to shake hands (when this happened during the 2016 Olympic games it was considered as "bad behavior") in politics I guess all is allowed.

The first topic is the Supreme Court and in what direction should the court take our country and secondly, how do you feel the constitution should be interpreted?
Hillary: Wants to maintain women's rights, and the rights of the LGBT community, she also wants to say no to Citizens United. That the Supreme court should be for the American people and not for the powerful corporations and the wealthy. Ashe also hoped that the Senate would do its job and confirm the nominee that President Obama has sent to them.
For Donald: He talked about the remark that Justice Ginsburg made about him and that she had to apologize, which she did. But her regret was "
Judges should avoid commenting on a candidate for public office. In the future I will be more circumspect." and had nothing to do with if it wasn't her feeling as a women and a citizen. He would uphold the second amendment and all amendments, but especially the second amendment which is under absolute siege today.
For information:  The Second Amendment (Amendment II) to the United States Constitution protects the right of the people to keep and bear arms. But In the latter half of the 20th century, there was considerable debate over whether the Second Amendment protected an individual right or a collective right. The debate centered on whether the prefatory clause ("A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State") declared the amendment’s only purpose or merely announced a purpose to introduce the operative clause ("the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed"). Scholars advanced three competing theoretical models for how the prefatory clause should be interpreted. Well after that it was talkes about the right to have, use, what type, and how it is are isn't important to have everybody armed.
Remember we have a little thing called the First Amendment, which gives the right to an opinion about every little thing that goes on, including guns and people.
Here I will throw in my two words about the need of guns; I spent 14 years as a soldier (after Vietnam I gave up). Some weird feeling I have about this need to be armed. I have heard that it is to protect you and your loved ones, but up until today I haven't heard of a case where someone has protected themselves or a loved one with a gun. When you have a known gun carrier like a policeman, are other security person the first fear they have is being confronted with an armed person, so the shot first. When you see the number of people killed by a firearm in the USA compared with other countries it should make Americans think, but it doesn't.
Donald is pro-life which means some women's rights like rights to abortion could be overturned. For those that don't remember in the United States, violence directed towards abortion providers has killed at least eleven people, including four doctors, two clinic employees, a security guard and a police officer.

The next subject is immigration:

Donald still wants the wall, but this time he didn't say anything about who would pay for it. With the exception of using the word "hombres" in his reference to the bad guys. When Donald talked about drug he said "the drug lords, all of the bad ones, we have some bad, bad people in this country that have to go out". Does that mean with or without respect of today's laws?
In the pass Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto has compared Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini.  After their meeting in August, Peña Nieto was amenable to even the Republican nominee's most controversial policy proposals, which include plans to build a massive border wall and deport millions of undocumented immigrants. Mexicans Accuse President of ‘Historic Error’ in Welcoming Donald Trump
Some figures about drugs in the USA: Mexico’s involvement in the illicit drug trade in the United States:
•Marijuana: Mexico is the number one foreign supplier of marijuana to the United States, and marijuana is thought to be the top revenue generator for Mexican drug cartels.
•Cocaine: Mexico does not produce cocaine; however, Mexican cartels move Columbian cocaine through South and Central America and into the United States. An estimated 93 percent of cocaine headed to the US from South America moves through Mexico.
•Methamphetamine: Mexico remains the biggest foreign supplier of methamphetamine to the United States, and Mexican drug cartels set up labs to manufacture meth on both sides of the border, controlling labs in Southern California as well as domestically.
•Heroin: While Asia and the Middle East remain the biggest producers of heroin, Mexican black-tar and brown heroin is on the rise. In fact, 39 percent of heroin indentified under the DEA’s Heroin Signature Program (HSP) in 2008 came from Mexico, making Mexico the source country for many of the heroin abusers west of the Mississippi River.

Hillary was thinking about a young girl she met here in Las Vegas, "Carla who is very worried that her parents might be deported because she was born in this country but they were not. They work hard. They do everything they can to give her a good life. And you're right. I don't want to rip families apart. I don't want to be sending families away from children. I don't want to see the deportation force that Donald has talked about in action in our country. We have 11 million undocumented people. They have 4 million American citizen children. 15 million people. He said as recently as a few weeks ago in Phoenix, that every undocumented person would be subject to deportation."
Hillary explained that we will not have open borders. That is a rank mischaracterization. We will have secure borders. But we will also have reform. This used to be a bipartisan issue.
Chris question Hillary about wanting an open markets; information found on WikiLeaks: where during a speech given by Hillary at Brazilian bank for which she was paid $225,000 she said. “My dream is a hemispheric common market with open trade and open borders.” For Hillary what is really important about WikiLeaks is that the Russian government has engaged in espionage against Americans. And then the debate was about Vladimir, and the influence Russia is having on the American election, ISIS and who is responsible for it, the Syrians and who is going to control their arrival. Also who would be the puppet for Vladimir?

Next topic will be the economy
Hillary started but nothing different since debate 1. For Hillary it would be tax cuts for middle class and the same level of government regulations:
Biggest jobs program since World War II .
Raising the national minimum wage
Women get equal pay.
A better education program for low and middle class families.
Before Donald started on his plan, he explained that Hillary's plan is going to raise taxes and even double your taxes. Her tax plan is a disaster. What I am wondering was "double your taxes" addressed directly to Chris Wallace?
Donald finally go down to the facts, we are protecting many wealth countries and they aren't paying their debts to NATO and we should have them pay for the protection we grantee.
"We're protecting people. They have to pay up." I know this is true for racketeers that make their clients pay for protection. I am sure between countries this is a little more complicated.  The question about NAFTA that was signed when Bill was President, Donald wants to renegotiate NAFTA, if he can't get the deal he wants, he (Donald) would create a new trade agreement (I guess that everyone will have to accept) since it is coming from Donald.
How has NAFTA affected the U.S. economy?
In the years since NAFTA, U.S. trade with its North American neighbors has more than tripled, growing more rapidly than U.S. trade with the rest of the world. Canada and Mexico are the two largest destinations for U.S. exports, accounting for more than a third of the total. Most estimates conclude that the deal had a modest but positive impact on U.S. GDP of less than 0.5 percent, or a total addition of up to $80 billion dollars to the U.S. economy upon full implementation, or several billion dollars of added growth per year.

We then get to the most important question, Chris " Mr. Trump, at the last debate, you said your talk about grabbing women was just that, talk, and that you'd never actually done it."
This was my chance to go get a sandwich and coffee. it is 4 o'clock in the morning.
I must have missed something because when I returned everyone was talking about: I guess this was the general debate with no precise subject because both candidates talked about: Syria, Russia, Iraq, Iran, ISIS, Aleppo, Mosul, Donald said something about surprise: "The element of surprise. Douglas MacArthur, George Patton spinning in their graves at the stupidity of our country." I guess he read that in a book. I don't think it has anything to do with his military experience.
Also they talked about the Clinton Foundation (which I am a active member). We also listened to stories about donors, who gives and what for. I should have spent a little more time with my coffee. We got back to the illegal steel from Chinese that Donald was using to build his towers.
I am sure everyone is waiting to see how America will resolve the problem of Syria, ISIS, Iraq and all the problems that bother are world. I hope that either Donald or Hillary have a good script like in the movies, where America is always the saver of are plante.
Chris to Donald "Mr. Trump, even conservative economists who have looked at your plan say that the numbers don't add up. That your idea, and you’ve talked about 25 million jobs created. 4% growth-" "
At this time I have the feeling that Donald thinks he is talking to share holders, THAT WORRIES ME.

Chris : " Mr. Trump, Secretary Clinton,We need to move on to our final segment, and that is the national debt".

Trump: "I’m going to create tremendous jobs. And we're bringing GDP from really 1%, which is what it is now, and if she got in, it would be less than zero, but we’re bringing it from 1% up to 4%, and I actually think we can go higher than 4%. I think you can go to 5% or 6%. "

Clinton: "Well, first when I hear Donald talk like that and know that his slogan is "Make America Great Again." I wonder when he thought America was great. And before he rushes and says, you know, before you and President Obama were there, I think it's important to recognize that he has been criticizing our government for decades. You know, back in 1987, he took out an $100,000 ad in the New York Times during the time when President Reagan was president and basically said exactly what he just said right now. That we were the laughing stock of the world. He was criticizing President Reagan. This is the way Donald thinks about himself, puts himself into, you know, the middle and says, you know, ‘I alone can fix it,’ as he said on the convention stage."

We then get to the closing remarks:

Clinton: "Well I would like to say to everyone watching tonight that I'm reaching out to all Americans, Democrats, Republicans and independents, because we need everybody to help make our country what it should be, to grow the economy, to make it fairer, to make it work for everyone. We need your talents, your skills, your commitment, your energy, your ambition. You know, I've been privileged to see the presidency up close, and I know the awesome responsibility of protecting our country and the incredible opportunity of working to try to make life better for all of you. I have made the cause of children and families really my life's work. That's what my mission will be in the presidency. I will stand up for families against powerful interests, against corporations. I will do everything that I can to make sure that you have good jobs with rising incomes, that your kids have good educations from preschool through college. I hope you will give me a chance to serve as your president."

Trump: She's raising the money from the people she wants to control. Doesn't work that way. But when I started this campaign, I started it very strongly. It's called Make America Great Again. We're going to make America great. We have a depleted military. It has to be helped. It has to be fixed. We have the greatest people on Earth in our military. We don't take care of our veterans. We take care of illegal immigrants, people that come into our country illegally better than we take care of our vets. That can’t happen. Our policemen and women are disrespected. We need law and order, but we need justice too. Our inner cities are a disaster. You get shot walking to the store. They have no education. They have no jobs. I will do more for African-Americans and Latinos that she can do for ten lifetimes. All she's done is talk to the African-Americans and to the Latinos, but they get the vote and then they come back, they say ‘we’ll see you in four years.’ We are going to make America strong again and we are going to make America great again and it has to start now. We cannot take four more years of Barack Obama, and that's what you get when you get her.

Good night
